So we put together some homemade yellow jacket traps this week and have had varying levels of success with different designs. The idea was to put out bait laced with a slow-acting poison, so the annoying yellow guys could take it back to their nest and Independence Day virus their base.

Clearly the ones made from old bottles didn't work out so well because once they flew in, they had an incredibly difficult time getting out. Our second approach appears to be more successful as they absolutely ravaged the few ounces of chicken we laid out.

We'll be repeating this process nightly in hopes to kill as many as possible. That is, until my wife allows me to attach a flamethrower to a quadcopter. It's not like California's air quality could get that much worse...
