Every Saint Patrick's Day it's tradition to boil our food beyond recognition. This is so we can pretend we're authentic Irish citizens for a few hours. We also drink green beer until our floor looks like Kermit fought a steamroller, but alcohol should certainly not be a one-day adventure.
This year I chose to smoke cured brisket and turn it into the most delicious pastrami ever to grace my "inappropriate in every situation" lips. It took a measly 15 hours, but made an amazing sandwich for lunch. Rye, sauerkraut, hot mustard, and pastrami is not only emotionally uplifting, but its low sodium and low fat content is heart healthy. Eat one of these every day and your doctor will high five you and refund most of your intensive medical bills.
